Nosodes are obtained from:
Microbial cultures,
Viruses,
Antitoxic-serums or Vaccines,
Pathological secretions of a specific disease.
They are sterilised and potentized.
Auto Nosodes come from the same sick person to whom it is applied. Nosodes came into Homoeopathic Materia Medica during HAHNEMANN’s time itself. HAHNEMANN reported the proving of Psorinum in STAPF’s Archiv 13 (1833) 3, 163-187. Subsequently HERING (1800-1880) introduced many Nosodes. Samuel SWAN (1814 - 1893) made much contribution in this regard.
Nosodes are used as iso- or homoeo- therapeutically on the basis of their symptom-similarity corresponding to the Law of Similars (as far as they have been proved and the remedy pictures thus obtained); also on their actual ætiology (e.g. Pertussinum in a patient who had suffered from Whooping Cough); their anamnestic history (e.g. Pertussinum in an asthmatic whose sufferings date back to a suppressed, apparently healed Whooping Cough).
Nosodes generally are applied in treatment of the chronically ill only in infrequent doses (as a rule, only once or twice during a treatment), only in (different) high potencies (30, 200, M) and only in combination with the appropriate homoeo-therapeutic medicine.
According to the French School a Tuberculin should never be employed without an earlier (three weeks) drainage so as to avoid an abrupt preliminary aggravation (toxin elimination crisis).
The “drainage” remedies used by the French School are: Berberis (Kidney function remedy: T.residuum), Bryonia (Rheumatism: T. residuum), Crataegus (sudden, abrupt weakness: T Denys), Ignatia (Depression: Tuberculinum), Nux vomica, (Neurasthenia, sudden affections: Tuberculinum, T. Denys), Pulsatilla (variability: Tuberculinum, T .Denys, T. Marmorek) Rhus tox (Fibrosis, rheumatic complaints: T. Residuum) Solidago (Kidney function remedy: T. Marmorek, T. residuum); where one of these remedies or homoeopsoric like Arsenicum, Calcarea phosphoricum, Iodum, Kali carbonicum, Natrum muriaticum, Phosphorus, Sepia, Silicea seem indicated, it points to, not seldom, a tuberculinic disease.
