In injuries:  Lacerated or crushed fingertips; wounds that are painful; penetrating wounds of palms and soles; pains that throb and stab as from a splinter.  Hepar suppurates out foreign bodies, such as broken needles, especially when embedded in parts too dangerous to operate on or when the foreign body is too small to be located.

 HYDROPHIS CYANOCINCTUS

Dr. TWENTYMAN  obtained the Venom of this Sea Snake with the help of Dr. P. SANKARAN, Bombay and forwarded to Nelsons. The Provings were done with 10 provers and 4 controls.  Interest had been provoked by an earlier survey of 125 cases of Sea snake bite (Dr. REID of Penang General Hospital, BHJ. 1957).  The Provers took the 6c daily for 3 months; one after another stopped taking the powders, complaining bitterly, and some could not be persuaded to restart the experiment.

The Keynotes were Depression, Tiredness and Heaviness, dull frontal Headache, dry.
burning Throat, stabbing pains in the limbs, Abdomen, Chest and Heart, night starts and Nightmares, aggravation in the morning on waking; symptoms left sided.

Another symptom was tender muscles.  This appears significant as the recurrence in the Snake bite cases of red, even black, Urine, suggests the excretion of Myoglobin.  Myoglobinuria had been seen often in victims of crush injuries during the war.  The fundamental action of the Venom could be on muscles rather than on nerves.

Dr. RAESIDE suggested the employment of this remedy when indicated in Neuromuscular disease – Poliomyelitis, Muscular Dystrophies, Diphtheria, Crush Injuries.  The drug picture resembles that of  Lachesis, except that there are no hot flushes, but rather more limb pains, more muscular weakness.
   (Frank BODMAN, BHJ. 3/77)

Terror, reaching a crescendo in ecstasy (Belladonna, Stramonium).  Passive fear, of a suspicious and distrustful nature;  fear of being poisoned, refuses food and medicines. Everybody is against him. Wants to  escape.  Tendency to flight is marked.  (Bell.  convulsive in fear; Stram. more violent.)
The inside is warm, the skin is warm, uncovers and demands coolness on the body.  The face is pale, demands warmth on the head.  The brain is bloodless.  Fever symptoms are mild.  Passive delirium. (Bell. warm outside, cold inside.  Wants to be covered, desires warmth on the body.  Cerebral Hyperaemia with active Delirium).
  (Gerhard KÖHLER, BHJ. 1/76)

Aetiology:  Infectious diseases (such as Pneumonia, Typhoid, Scarlet Fever, acute Polyarthritis, Encephalitis, etc.) affecting the brain.  Arteriosclerosis of the brain vessels,  Alcohol, Parturition.
The symptoms arise from affections of the brain, and to a lesser degree, of the parasympathetic nerve.  Old arteriosclerotic people often show jealousy which also occurs in Grave’s disease and the experience of STIEGELE thatHyoscyamus 3X produces severe manic conditions in cases of Grave’s disease points to it in higher potencies in Thyrotoxicosis, if other symptoms correspond.
